Sampling archaeological materials in Salvador

March 2020 – The second round of meetings in Brazil with TRADITION partners started in March at the Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia – thank you to Professor Carlos Alberto Etchevarne for your support and collaboration. We were planning to also meet Professors Tania Andrade Lima and Andrea Lessa at the Museu Nacional da Universidade Federal Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) on this trip, unfortunately the outbreak of COVID-19 around the world interrupted our activities and forced the PI to return to Spain before the meetings could be completed.  We had the opportunity to sample some historical and pre-European archaeological materials from Bahia. We know little about the importance of fish as well as livestock for the economy of the earliest urban centres of the Atlantic Forest of Brazil.
